The core party meeting of BJP in Maharashtra that was called late-night on Tuesday to discuss the post-election scenario in the state, saw the absence of two leaders - Eknath Khadse and Pankaja Munde. The development comes amid reports of dissent within the party as just hours before the meeting, Khadse met Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray. He had earlier claimed to have evidence against cadres who worked against the party during the polls. According to him, those members were responsible for BJP's defeat in the state.

Meanwhile, Pankaja Munde has already indicated that she'll make a big announcement regarding her political career on December 12. Earlier this month, she took to Facebook to inform that she'll make a big announcement while addressing a rally in the Beed district of Maharashtra.

Munde has called for a meeting of her supporters from across the state on December 12, the birth anniversary of her late father and former Union Minister Gopinath Munde, to discuss the future course of action. The young leader's confident call is now being interpreted by analysts as a massive show of strength in the aftermath of the crisis regarding government formation in the state.

Addressing the reporters after the meeting, BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar clarified that both Khadse and Munde are key leaders and not quitting the party.

He added that Khadse has written to the party claiming that some workers are responsible for his daughter Rohini Khadse's defeat in the recently held assembly elections and based on his statement, an enquiry will be conducted.

"We decided in today's meeting to hold discussions with Eknath Khadse ji. His concerns will be addressed. Khadse ji has submitted some evidence, whoever has worked against the party will be expelled," he said.

When asked about Munde's absence from the meeting, Mungantiwar said that she had sought permission to skip the meeting as she's preparing for an upcoming rally.

"Pankaja Munde did not attend today's meeting with the permission of the state party president," he said.

Further elaborating on the core committee meeting, Mungantiwar informed that BJP has decided to support the NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra till the time they do good work.
