"Assam Rifles have more or less contained the insurgents particularly in Somtal area of Chandel district bordering Myanmar after busting their camps", Inspector General of Assam Rifles-South (IGAR-S) Maj Gen C A Krishnan said during an informal chat with mediapersons at Assam Rifles headquarters at Mantripukhri area near here yesterday.
He said para military forces were still continuing operations against the insurgents.
Civic action programmes by Assam Rifles personnel were also continuing besides anti-insurgency operations particularly in interior areas where there was not much medical facilities, bad road communication and inadequate educational facilities, he said.
