Arrows of Arjuna in Mahabharata had atomic power: WB governor

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday made a bizarre claim by saying that the arrows of Arjuna in Mahabharata had nuclear power.

He also claimed that flying objects were present during the time of Ramayana.

Addressing a gathering at the Eastern India Science Fair and 19th Science and Engineering Fair on Tuesday, Dhankhar said, "It is not in the 20th century, but it was during the period of Ramayana, we had flying objects (Uran Khatola). Sanjay narrated the entire war of Mahabharata (to Dhitarasthra) not from TV. The arrows of Arjuna in Mahabharata had atomic power in it," Dhankhar said while addressing a programme."

Earlier, a long line of Bharatiya Janata party leaders (BJP) leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi made strange claims linking science and mythology.

Prime Minister Modi had once claimed that the technology for plastic surgery existed during ancient times. Addressing a gathering of doctors and other medical professionals at an event, he gave the example of elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha to claim that plastic surgery could be done during that time.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that the internet existed during the time of Mahabharata.

"Indians have been using the internet since the times of Mahabharata. This is the only explanation of how Sanjaya could narrate the entire tale of the battle of Kurukshetra to the blind king Dhritarashtra without physically being present at the event," Biplab Deb said at Regional Workshop on Computerisation and Reforms at Pragna Bhawan.

In the epic Indian mythology Mahabharata, Sanjay had narrated the entire battle sequence of Kurukshetra to the blind king  Dhritarashtra. This lead Deb to make the assumption that the technology for the internet must have been present during that time.
