'I'll take that because she's pretty beautiful': 'Aladdin' actor Naomi Scott on being mistaken as Deepika Padukone

During an interaction, Naomi Scott opened up about being mistaken as Deepika Padukone on the sets of 'Aladdin'.

Naomi Scott impressed everyone with her performance as Princess Jasmine in the live-in action Disney film, Aladdin which released in 2019. For the role, several of them auditioned including Tara Sutaria and it was finally bagged by Naomi. She was later seen in Charlie's Angels alongside Kristen Stewart and Ella Balinska. For the uninitiated, Naomi is born to an Indian Gujarati mom and an English father. Now during a recent interaction, the actor spoke about how she was told that she looking like Deepika Padukone.

Recalling the incident, Naomi said to a radio channel, "I have to tell you this funny story. Do you know 'Nagada Sang Dhol'? I was playing it on set and I had an American cast and crew so I'm playing it because I love that song so much, and literally someone was like, 'Oh it's so beautiful, Nay, is that you?' and I was just like, 'Yeah, it is, it is'."

The actor added, "I thought to myself, 'you could be compared to worse people than Deepika, so I'll take that because she's pretty beautiful'."

Aladdin starred Mena Massoud in the titular role with Will Smith as Genie. The film was directed by Guy Ritchie. 

Talking about Deepika, she also stepped into the world of Hollywood with the film, xXx: Return of Xander Cage in which she starred opposite Vin Diesel. There were even reports that she will be starring in the sequel but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Currently, amid lockdown, DP is reading on scripts and will soon kickstart projects post everything gets back to normal.
