The recent picture posted by director Venkat Prabhu with Thala Ajith has led to speculations that the duo may team up for Mankatha 2 soon. Ever since Venkat Prabhu delivered the blockbuster Mankatha in 2011 for Dayanidhi Azhagiri's Cloud Nine Movies, fans have been continuously asking him to come up with a sequel to the film, which was unanimously enjoyed by everyone upon release.

The photo arrived at a time when Thala fans were busy celebrating the blockbuster 50-day success of Ajith's recent outing Viswasam, which released alongside Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta for the Pongal festival and managed to earn more than the Karthik Subbaraj directorial in the home state Tamil Nadu. The film is still running in more than 100 centres in TN and is a rare occasion for a big star movie these days.
Sources close to the Venkat Prabhu camp refuse to divulge any information about the meeting, which has fuelled a bevvy of rumours. While Ajith is busy shooting for Thala 59, an official remake of Hindi hit Pink with director Vinoth of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru fame, Venkat Prabhu is busy writing his political drama Maanaadu which will star STR in the lead role.
Boney Kapoor who is producing Thala 59 will also bankroll Ajith's Thala 60 and it would be interesting to see if Venkat Prabhu wields the megaphone for the project.
