Shock and recovery for Saurabh Pandey

Like its working hours, the TV industry can be ruthless too. Actor Saurabh Pandey will definitely vouch for that. The actor is still recovering from the shock when he was unceremoniously dumped from Tere Mere Sapne.

Besides shooting at a faraway place, he was required to shoot for more than 18 hours a day. Since the show was village centric, Saurabh’s idea of spending time with the unit to get the nuances correct did not go down too well with the producers. And one fine day, he was informed that somebody new has taken over his role in the show and he is no longer required.

“They just wanted everything in hurry. Being a city bred boy, I just wanted to get my character right. Moreover the timing and everything was going haywire. They complained because I wanted to give my best shot even if it required retakes. I was surprised that they didn’t want it to be the best. And then I got a call from somebody that I somebody new has replaced me,” he says.

Unlike actors who sulk over all such issues, Saurabh wanted to have a re-look at his life. “I would say whatever happened was all because of miscommunication between me and the producers. I don’t have any grudge against them. Though I was getting calls for new shows, I just decided to take a break. I travelled a lot during this period and was at peace with myself. I watched a lot of films which in turn were like a new lesson every time in acting
for me. I also decided to get back in shape which went for a toss earlier due to erratic schedules,” he adds.

Saurabh was launched by non-fiction king Siddharth Basu in his first non-fiction show Jiya Jale. Though the show didn’t work, but he was noticed which resulted in many prime-time lead roles for him. “I am still in touch with Siddharthji and whenever my new show goes on-air, he always wishes me best of luck. I am really thankful to him but he is always a down to earth man,” he says.

And though he is looking for an exciting show, his ultimate goal is to do films like many thousands in the small screen industry. “All actors want to do films because this is the highest form of creative expression. I am no exception either,” he quips.
