American singer Katy Perry says she will apply to become a citizen of the UK as soon as she weds Russell Brand.

"When I get married next month, one of the first things I'll do is apply for dual citizenship," the Sun quoted her as saying.

"I'm not too sure if I have to take a test as I've not had time to look into it. But England is like my second home," she added.

Perry, who is in the UK promoting her second album 'Teenage Dream', tried to stay mum about her fiancé.

"I'm trying not to speak about Russell and am concentrating on my music. I'm trying to keep a hold on the celebrity thing. I'm a singer," said Perry.

However, her attempt couldn't last long.

She said, "There's a track on the new album called Firework, which is about him directly. It's my favourite."

Out in London, wearing a T-shirt saying happy, Perry added, "I'm the happiest I've ever been, as you can see by my top."
