Jake Gyllenhaal is planning to go back to college. "I dropped out of Columbia University in 2000 after two years of studying Eastern religions and philosophy to concentrate on acting," The Mirror quoted him, as saying.

He added: "But I have always wanted to finish my degree." Meanwhile, it has been reported that Gyllenhaal is desperately trying to win back Reese Witherspoon. According to In Touch Weekly magazine, Jake has been buying Reese expensive gifts in the hope she'll take him back.

It was previously reported that the pair split because Reese - who is divorced from hunky actor Ryan Phillippe - didn't want to get married.

"As much as everyone thinks they're right there, they're really not near the whole marriage thing," a source said in December.

The source added: "Jake would marry her tomorrow, but Reese doesn't want to go there yet, even though he would like to.

"There's a huge attraction between them, and they've become a team, partners, but Jake can be a little overbearing at times, and Reese is really happy with life right now. Why screw that up or change a good thing?"
