Schools reopening from June 1, Haryana govt issues SOPs

Schools in Haryana will open from June 1 for students of Class 9 to 12. The state government has decided to continue the classes amid the necessary guidelines. The government has also issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for schools, which will be mandatory for all schools, teaching and non-teaching staff.

Earlier, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the state government had declared summer vacations in schools till May 31, 2021.

The Haryana Directorate of Education has sent instructions to all the district offices for the opening of the schools from June 1. It has also sought details of infrastructure including benches, rooms etc. details in the schools located in their area. 

Several districts of the state are witnessing a reduction of COVID-19 cases due to which the Education Department has ordered the schools to be opened. However, as per the directives issued by the directorate, only one student can sit on a bench in schools.

Besides, schools will have to ensure that other coronavirus guidelines like social distancing, use of masks and sanitizers are being followed.
