Gang of four auto lifters arrested by Dwarka police

The Dwarka district of Delhi police have busted a gang of thieves who roped in teenagers by luring them with good money and lavish lifestyle from Dwarka district on Friday night. Police said that the four people were involved in a dozen cases of auto-theft and snatching. The four were fond of stylish clothes and grand parties

The four were identified as Pramod (27), Mukesh Verma (24), Rahul (20) and Kamal (20). They were caught red handed on Friday at around 9:15 pm when they assembled at Chhath Puja park at Uttam Nagar to steal a vehicle.

"On Friday, we received an information that a gang of auto lifters-cum-snatchers would assemble at Chhath Puja Park in Uttam Nagar in Delhi to commit another theft. Following the information, a trap was laid, and around 9:15 pm, the four assembled in two motorcycles and were caught red handed by the police. The accused persons have confessed to their involvement in around one dozen cases of auto lifting and snatching," said Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka).

During interrogation, it came to light that Pramod was the kingpin of the gang while he met Mukesh in jail and after being released last month they again started indulging in motor cycle theft. Rahul and Kamal were roped in by two accused into the gang enticing them with good money and lifestyle. While the money earned through chain snatching were distributed among them.

"The gang led a luxurious life, splurging on liquor and branded clothes to impress their friends," said The accused Rahul and Kamal would allegedly carry out chain snatching on stolen motorcycles and thus remained elusive for a while," said Alphonse.
