According to the Delhi police, Karketa had arguments with the girl over non-payment of salary for a year.
A 33-old-man was arrested last Thursday from west Delhi's Nangloi for murdering a teenaged girl earlier this month. The accused, identified as Manjeet Karketa, a resident of Jharkhand, had allegedly brought the girl from his state to Delhi after promising her a job.
According to the Delhi police, Karketa had arguments with the girl over non-payment of salary for a year.
Eventually, a fortnight ago, he allegedly killed her and chopped her body to pieces, the police claimed.
"On May 4, Police Control Room unit got a call about her death. We set up a team which began interrogating people from 200 houses at Bhootwali Gali, the area where the incident took place," said an official of the Mianwali Gali Police Station.
The police then got a tip-off about the accused who had been missing since the murder. A team was dispatched to the accused man's village in Jharkhand. But they couldn't find him.
On Thursday, the police received inputs from informers that Karketa would be visiting his rented house in Bhootwali Gali. The police team laid a trap and arrested him without much struggle.
Upon interrogation, Karketa revealed that he and his associates had been bringing poor girls from Jharkhand to Delhi for a couple of years and giving them jobs, but they'd pocket their salaries.
The police have registered a case against Karketa under different sections of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating further to arrest his other associates.
