Middle-order maestro Shreyas Iyer has made a triumphant comeback to Team India, participating in an optional practice session in preparation for the crucial Asia Cup Super Four clash against Bangladesh. This welcomed return follows Iyer's brief absence due to a troublesome back spasm.

Iyer's earlier contributions were noteworthy in India's group-stage encounters against traditional rivals Pakistan and Nepal in the Asia Cup. Against Pakistan, he managed to score 14 runs before his untimely setback. Regrettably, his back ailment sidelined him for the Super Four stage matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, both of which India clinched, securing their place in the tournament final.

In Iyer's absence, KL Rahul stepped into the breach and made a significant impact with a magnificent century against Pakistan and a valuable contribution of 39 runs versus Sri Lanka.

During the recent optional practice session, Iyer engaged in light batting practice, symbolizing his gradual return to peak physical condition. His consistent performance, adept handling of spin bowling, and deft strike rotation have solidified his pivotal role in India's middle order.

There is no question that his skills will be of immense value as India gears up for the Asia Cup and the impending ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to commence in India on October 5.

On Friday, India is poised to confront Bangladesh in their Super Four encounter. Currently, India occupies the top spot in the standings with two wins and four points, while Bangladesh finds itself at the bottom, having suffered defeat in both of its previous matches, and now aims to redeem its pride in the upcoming fixtures.
