When the young Indian lads were set to face Bangladesh in the ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa, all thought the Boys in Blue will be lifting the trophy. However, the Bangladesh U19 boys not only upset the defending champions, but the two sides also need the final clash on a bad note. The U19 boys were involved in an altercation moments after the match ended and the International Cricket Council charged five players - three Bangladesh and two Indians - after the ugly scenes at Potchefstroom. The fight sure became a topic of discussion and many cricketing pundits voiced their opinion on the same.

Talking in an Exclusive interview with DNA Web, the former U19 captain Unmukt Chand said that such instances should be avoided. He said, "Yes, of course, it was not a good sight to see this sort of fighting going on in the finals. It does not put a good light on the spirit of the game. Youngsters should learn to keep their anger and their enthusiasm in check, so it's important to not cross that mark. It's important to fight and let out of yourself in the game in terms of intensity, but when it comes to verbal bantering and verbal fights, these things should be avoided as much as possible".

When asked about India's overall performance at the World Cup and how the boys ended up losing the final clash, the 2012 U19 World Cup winner said, "Yes, India did lose a close game against Bangladesh in the U19 finals. Though it was a good tournament for the entire team and not to take that away from the site, a few errors in the big game - we all know that final is a big pressure situation and it's about the team which handles the pressure well is the one that goes forward to win such battles. "

Chand added, "Sure things did not go our way. The middle-order not clicking for India and then had we got a few wickets early on with the new ball, it would have made a difference. Nonetheless, I think a few wickets more here and there early on would have specially made a lot of difference".

The right-handed batsman who was present at the Skoda Single Wicket Tournament spoke about the event and how budding cricketers in the country are getting various opportunities.

"It feels great to see the young budding cricketers in the country. Nice to see such tournaments getting organised at U12 and U14 levels because these are the boys who will go in and play for the respective states and the country as well.

When asked if he has any word of advice for the future generation Chand said, "My only tip to the youngsters would be to keep working hard, stay disciplined and stay focused for as long as you can."

"Cricket is a game which requires a lot of time and effort and dedication. It does reap rewards overnight, so you got to stick to it. You got to keep by it so that's very important. It's important to keep practising and staying patient with yourself. Learn to keep improving yourself every day on various aspects of the game. So just work hard and stay disciplined," concluded Chand.
