The Indian men's cricket team commenced their six-day conditioning camp in Alur on Thursday, August 24th. The Men in Blue have initiated their final preparations for the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023, engaging in a series of rigorous fitness drills. Notably, the star trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya successfully completed the Yo-Yo tests, showcasing their exceptional physical prowess.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) consistently administer health and fitness assessments. However, with the imminent Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament on the horizon, these tests are expected to be more comprehensive and demanding.

Kohli was the first player to share his Yo-Yo test score of 17.2 through a post on Instagram. The BCCI has set the fitness parameter to 16.5 and according to a report from the PTI, all the participating players successfully completed the tests on Thursday. "The tests were successful and the reports will be sent to the BCCI soon," a source told PTI.

From Friday onwards, there will be increased outdoor activities, but those returning from Ireland might not be put under the Yo-Yo test as they will be put through the skill-set segment of the camp.

Several parameters of players will be checked during the camp including a lipid profile, blood sugar (fasting and PP), uric acid, calcium, Vitamin B12 and D, creatinine, testosterone, and Dexa tests, etc.

On August 21, India made an exciting announcement, revealing their 17-member squad for the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023. The team welcomed back star batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who had both been sidelined due to lengthy injury spells. However, it is important to note that Rahul is still in the process of recovering from a knee injury, which prevented him from participating in the Yo-Yo test on Thursday. Nevertheless, reports suggest that he did take part in other fitness drills, showcasing his determination to return to peak performance.

The team selection also brought some surprises, with Suryakuamr Yadav and Tilak Varma earning spots in the squad. Yadav's inclusion raised eyebrows, as he has been struggling to find his form recently. On the other hand, Varma's selection is particularly intriguing, as he has never played an ODI match before. It will be fascinating to see how these two players perform on the big stage.

In addition to Rahul, the squad will also be bolstered by the arrival of Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Prasidh Krishna. These players were instrumental in India's recent triumph in the T20I series against Ireland. Their contributions were invaluable, and their presence in the camp, starting from Friday (August 25), will undoubtedly boost the team's morale and chances of success.
