Professor G Raghuram took charge as Director of IIM Bangalore today.

Raghuram has a PhD from Northwestern University, USA, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM Ahmedabad and a BTech degree from IIT Madras.

"I would like to reach out to all its stakeholders: students and participants, faculty, staff, alumni, board members and the external ecosystem including industry and government, to enable IIM-B reach greater heights," Raghuram said.

Raghuram was a faculty member at IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA) since 1985. Prior to taking over as Director of IIM Bangalore, he was Professor and Chairperson of the Public Systems Group at IIMA.

Asian Granito eyes top position in flooring solutions segment * Tile company Asian Granito India today said it is investing Rs 20 crore in setting up a quartz stone facility at its Himmatnagar plant and is eyeing a leadership position in flooring solution segment.

"Company is investing Rs 20 crore in setting up a 3rd line of quartz stone facility at its Himmatnagar plant dedicated for exports," Asian Granito said in a statement.

Post expansion, the company will be doubling the capacity of its quartz stone to 5.28 lakh square meter per annum in FY 17-18 from existing 2.64 lakh square meter, it added.

The new plant will target market for counter tops and interiors (floor) in kitchen, malls, airports and hotels, among others.

The company's current capacity of quartz stone stands at 800 square meter a day from its existing two lines which it plans to double to 1,600 square meter per day.

Kamlesh Patel, Chairman and MD, Asian Granito India said: "The new line of quartz will be dedicated to exports. The company currently manufactures quartz slab of 12-15 mm thickness and will be producing 20 mm and 30 mm thickness slabs at the new facility."

The new expansion is likely to fetch additional sales of Rs 60 crore in FY 17-18, the statement said. More
