Sonu Sood expresses 'helplessness' over 'scary' COVID-19 situation, urges people to come forward and help

Actor Sonu Sood, the Messiah of the migrants who refuses to call himself so, on Friday expressed his helplessness over not being able to arrange hospital beds and medicines for COVID-infected patients across the country. 

The actor, who made headlines for his humanitarian work during the lockdown last year that helped saved several lives, urged people to come forward and help the needy.

Taking to Twitter, Sonu tweeted, "Since morning I haven't kept my phone down, thousands of calls from all over India for HOSPITAL BEDS, MEDICINES, INJECTIONS and still not able to provide to many of them, I feel so helpless. The situation is scary, pls stay at home, wear mask and prevent yourself from infection."

Minutes later, in another tweet he wrote, "All said and done, I am still on it, I am sure together we can save many more lives. It's time not to blame anyone but to come forward for a needy who needs your help. Try to provide medical needs to the ones who don't have an access. LETS SAVE LIVES TOGETHER. Always there for u."

For the unversed, ever since the outbreak of the pandemic, Sonu Sood has been at the forefront, helping those in need. From arranging transport for stranded migrant workers to, providing e-rickshaws to the unemployed to arranging medicines, injections, oxygen cylinders for patients who suffer from the virus, the actor has been hailed for his humanitarian work.

Meanwhile, recently Sonu Sood was announced as the brand ambassador of the Punjab government for its Covid vaccination programme. The actor said he will make a good example out of Punjab which will inspire the entire nation.

Talking about the responsibility that he now has, Sonu told IANS in an interview, "I feel really blessed, motivated. A huge amount of responsibility is on my shoulders that I have to spread the message across to everyone. People have to get vaccinated and we make sure that every family gets its share of vaccination. We should be an example for everyone that how fast people get vaccinated in Punjab. I am on it and we will make sure that the message reaches out to everyone and reaches fast. I always feel that when something like this happens, it has to start from Punjab."
