'Time in jail crushed Rhea Chakraborty's morale completely': Director Rumi Jaffery

In his interview, Rumi also disclosed that he had recently met Rhea and that she has become 'quiet and withdrawn'.

Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was the prime suspect in actor Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic death, is 'recuperating' according to director and friend Rumi Jaffery. 

For the unversed, after Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, in due course, the investigation was taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Supreme Court's direction. 

Now, different angles of the case are being probed by the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). 

Rhea, who was in a relationship with Sushant, was accused by his family of abetment of suicide and embezzlement of his funds, among other things. She was arrested on a drug-related charge in the case consequently spending nearly a month in jail before she was granted bail. 

Now, months after Rhea was granted conditional bail in the alleged drug case involving the death of the 'Dil Bechara' actor, her friend Rumi in an interview revealed that the actress will be back to work very soon. 

In his interview, Rumi also disclosed that he had recently met Rhea and that she has become quiet and withdrawn. 

In an interview to SpotboyE, Rumi said, "It has been a traumatic year for her. Of course, the year was bad for everyone. But in her case, it was trauma on another level. Can you imagine any girl from a well-to-do middle-class family spending a month in jail? It has crushed her morale completely."

He added that Rhea will be resuming work next month. 

He further mentioned to the portal in his interview that he met her recently and assured her that she will be welcomed in the industry with open arms. He said, "I met her recently. She was withdrawn and quiet. Didn't speak much. Can't blame her after what she has gone through. Let the heat and dust settle down. I'm sure Rhea will have a lot to say."

Rumi and Rhea have worked on the upcoming film 'Chehre' starring Emraan Hashmi, Amitabh Bachchan and Rhea Chakraborty. The film which was announced in 2019 was slated for release on July 17, 2020, but got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. 

In fact, reportedly, Rumi was planning to cast Sushant and Rhea in a film together.
