'He’s the protagonist...': Gulshan Devaiah slams portal for not naming Pankaj Tripathi in post about OMG 2's success

Gulshan Devaiah, on Monday, took to Twitter and slammed a portal for not naming Pankaj Tripathi after OMG 2 enters Rs 100 crore club. He penned a note and reminded everyone that ‘he’s the protagonist’ in the film.

Sharing the news portal’s tweet about the film’s success, Pankaj Tripathi wrote, “Hello Koimoi. How many points Is Pankaj Tripathi getting? He’s the protagonist if I’m not mistaken.” The portal’s tweet read, “On Saturday, OMG 2 joined the 100 crore club at the box office, benefitting Akshay Kumar with 100 more points in Star Ranking.”

Social media users reacted to the tweet, one of them wrote, “Glad you spoke up on this. Very valid point.”  The second one said, “all the rankings are flawed, when I was in school it was good to debate who rank better. They are for fun only.” The third one said, “Exactly every article and trade pandit is mentioning Akshay Kumar and taking about his comeback at box office whereas in reality the main heroes of the movie are Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam.”

Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi's father Pandit Banaras Tiwari passed away on Monday at the age of 99. The actor is on the way to his village to perform the last rites. The family issued an official statement which read, "It’s with a heavy heart to confirm that Pankaj Tripathi’s father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari is no more. He lived a wholesome life of 99 years. His last rites will be performed today amongst his close family. Pankaj Tripathi is currently on his way to his village in Gopalganj."

Talking about the film OMG 2 which also stars Akshay Kumar, the film is doing exceptionally well at box office, the movie continues to hold its strong grip despite stiff competition from Sunny Deol's Gadar 2. Promoting sex education in the Indian schools, the film stars Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva's messenger in an extended cameo and is headlined by Pankaj Tripathi.
