Sleuths of Narcotic Control Bureau arrested two people for allegedly carrying 10 kg charas worth Rs 1 crore from Vaishnodevi circle on Friday night. The duo had concealed the charas in their truck.

The accused have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Bhatt(35) and Sohel Ahmed Ghani(25), both residents of Muchi near Shopian in Jammu- Kashmir. One Kashmir-based supplier had promised them Rs 50,000 if they delivered the consignment to a local supplier in Ahmedabad.

A surveillance team was deployed near Vaishnodevi circle in response to a tip-off that we got two days ago.

The sleuths stopped the truck and the two were arrested, said Hari Om Gandhi, NCB zonal director.

"Around 10kg of Kashmiri charas was recovered from a secret compartment which has a market value of around Rs 1crore," said Gandhi.

"We think Mushtaq used to deliver consignments to Ahmedabad regularly," said Gandhi. The sleuths have also launched a search to nail the local supplier.
