For its golden jubilee celebrations later this month, the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIMA) will organise international conferences and seminars which will see participation by eminent personalities, in person or through video-conferencing.
Dean (alumni and external relationships) at IIMA Prof Atanu Ghosh told DNA that Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata would deliver the keynote speech at the first of these conferences — the International Conference on Strategic Management Forum. This conference will be held from December 15 to December 17. Global strategist Prof Pankaj Ghemawat and Nobel laureate and founder of Grameen Bank, Muhammad Yunus, will also participate through video-conference, Ghosh said.
Other eminent personalities who are also expected to participate in the conference are Prof John Camillus, Vijay Mahajan of BASIX, Mirai Chatterjee of Sewa, Shivakumar ITC of Agri Business, Indian Oil Corporation chairman BM Bansal and vice-chairman Akshayapatra Chanchalapathi Dasa, to name a few.
"It is very rare for Ratan Tata to deliver a lecture at a conference," said Ghosh. "He has agreed to do so through video-conferencing for the international conference on strategic management."
Ghosh further said that the conference will have mainly three components - talks by invited speakers; panel discussions by well-known academics and senior corporate leaders; and presentation of research papers and case studies.
The institute will also host a series of international conferences in January 2011. The 8th AIMS-IIMA International Conference on Management Education will be held from January 1 to 4 while the IIMA conference on Marketing in Emerging Economies will take place from January 5 to 7.
Further, the second IIMA International Conference on Advanced Data Analysis, Business Analytics and Intelligence is scheduled for January 8-9 and the 4th Doctoral Colloquium will be held on January 3-4.
The Grand Alumni Reunion of all batches will be held on December 25 and 26, 2010.
