At least nine people were killed and two injured in a landslide at a coal mine in China's Shanxi province, authorities said on Sunday.

The accident happened Wednesday at the mine owned by Shengkai Coal Mining Co Ltd in Luliang city, Xinhua reported.

Four excavators and construction vehicles carrying 11 people were buried, according to the county government.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
