In Monday's top Sports News (March 30, 2020), the coronavirus outbreak has got many sporting events to postponed to a future date. The Olympics 2020 has also been postponed to July 2021. 

Not just that, Indian sports personalities have started donating to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund to help curb the spread of coronavirus.

1. 'Testing times for daily wage workers, migrant labourers': Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to donate money for combating COVID-19

While many Indian sports personalities are making their contributions to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund, paddler Sathiyan Gnanasekaran on Monday pledged to donate as well to help combat the coronavirus crisis in the country.

Taking to Twitter he wrote, “These are testing times for all of us especially for the daily wage workers & migrant labourers. I hereby pledge to donate a total of Rs 1,25,000 ( Rs 1 lakh for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s public relief fund & Rs 25000 for PM Cares fund )!!”.

2. Tokyo Olympics postponed due to coronavirus, to take place in July 2021

 

Postponed due to coronavirus, the Tokyo Olympics games is expected to start on July 23 next year, Japanese media reported. 

According to sources within the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, they told Japan's state broadcaster NHK that new dates for the 2020 Tokyo Games have been decided.

3. Pakistani squash legend Azam Khan, 95, dies of coronavirus in London

 

Pakistani squash legend Azam Khan, who was tested positive for COVID-19 last week, has died of coronavirus in London, his family said.

Azam, who won the British Open title successively between 1959 and 1961 died, at the age of 95, at London's Ealing Hospital on Saturday.

4. 'Priority was to find real solutions': Messi on Barca players receiving criticism for not helping amid COVID-19 outbreak

 

As the world battles to curb the spread of coronavirus, FC Barcelona players said that they will make an extra contribution on top of the 70% pay cut they have agreed to take during the enforced La Liga break, captain Lionel Messi said.

The club's all-time top scorer was among the many players who released identical statements on social media to confirm the decision.

5. Coronavirus pandemic: BCCI provides update on IPL 2020's possible future amid COVID-19 lockdown

 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on the possible future of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday (March 30).

The country's cricketing body claimed that no final decision has been made on the fate as the board is still monitoring the situation.
