Britain number one Andy Murray cruised into the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after thrashing his Canadian opponent Vasek Pospisil 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday.

Following a dominant display during first-set, the two-time Grand Slam champion dropped his own serve at the start of the second set but came back strongly to seal the victory.

Reflecting on his performance, Murray said that it was extremely different to what it was like in Davis Cup, adding that he tried to give himself some positive energy, insisting that helped him a little bit, but it was tough, the BBC reported.

Murray could face a possible quarterfinal tie against Japan's world number five Kei Nishikori, who registered a 6-4 6-4 win over American Ryan Harrison.

While Murray next faces German Philipp Kohlschreiber on Monday, Nishikori will next play Spain's Fernando Verdasco.
