As more foreign travellers visit India, Preferred Hotel Group, an international luxury hotel accommodation aggregator, is increasing its coverage in India by 50%.

The group plans to bring 15 more hotels under its umbrella by 2018-end, with 5-6 properties to be added this year itself. It currently has 30 member hotels in India.

"Over a 3-year window, it is realistic to have 50% growth in the number of our member hotels. By end of 2018, we are looking at a total of 45 member hotels in India, while by the end of this year, we are looking at 5-6 more properties," Saurabh Rai, area managing director of South Asia and Middle East for Preferred Hotels & Resorts told dna.

Globally, it plans to add 100 more hotels in next one year to its total portfolio of 650 hotels, resorts and luxury residences. The company has recently moved away from its multi-brand portfolio and re-branded itself to one master brand Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Lindsey Ueberroth, president & CEO, said, "With a rising number of Indian consumer going outbound, the same traveller will have different type of preference in different destinations and purpose of travel, say leisure and business. So all are collections are relevant for our Indian consumers."

India has been ranked as the fourth largest market after the US, Mexico and Italy for the group.

The group began its operations in India in 2002, with its first member hotel in the country, The Imperial New Delhi, has The Leela Group, ITC Hotels, and Dusit Bird Hotels portfolios across the country in its ambit.

The group has about eight properties with The Leela Group as part of its member hotels under its Legend and LVX collections. Rai said that with ITC Hotels, the alliance is currently for four properties, which is likely to increase.

Ueberroth said the group charged an annual fixed membership fee as well as a transaction fee. In 2014, Preferred generated $882 million in reservations revenue on behalf of its member hotels globally.
