If you can no longer afford to take your beloved on a five-star dinner date, don’t fret. Here are cheap ways to have fun. 

Pooja Gajjar, a student of Mithibai College says the first thing to hit the pocket is conveyance. “Guys can cut back on costs by going riding with their girlfriend on a cycle or even going tandem, a la the ’70s style. It’s romantic and saves fuel too,” she grins. “Or then, trying serenading your sweetheart with a song. You could also save a huge amount in a phone bill by buying a walkie-talkie.”

1) Couples often choose to go for ‘never ran’ films only to get those corner seats in the empty theatre for some romance.

2) Guys these days who want to avoid wasting money on petrol, try to convince their girlfriend that they are on this anti-pollution campaign and convince them to take a quiet walk instead.

3) It’s also a familiar sight today to see guys woo their girlfriends by taking them out for a spin in a rickshaw and landing up at a coffee shop rather than dining at a five-star hotel.

4) Watching the sunset will never go out of fashion as it’s enjoyable and doesn’t cost a penny.

5) Cookouts are in! That’s a huge cut back on dinner costs. Just dim the lights and bring out some classic tableware. Brownie points straightaway!

6) Go street shopping. At least that’s what the clever guys and girls do. You may find some trendy stuff and can tell everyone you’re finding your own style.

7) Rent a DVD: Beats buying a movie ticket which when clubbed with popcorn and colas and a snack is anything but cheap!

8) Get under the stars: If you have a terrace or are  at an open ground, enjoy the open skies and the lights. It is sure to bring on that loving feeling.
