Think Brazil, and what comes to mind is golden sun-kissed beaches, vibrant colours, foot-tapping music, football and lip-smacking South American food and drinks. It’s a slice of life that we crave for back home, and we were hoping Pune’s Boteco can partially fill that void. The latest Brazilian restaurant that has opened its doors in BKC hits all the right notes, giving meat-lover’s a reason to smile.

Ambience: Graffiti depicting the street culture from Rio de Janeiro sets the mood as the music transports you to another land. On the menu are  steaks, grilled meats, sausages, and more to go with some interesting cocktails.

Food: For starters, we recommend you try the delectable Pork Momos (Rs 390) and the Coxinha (Rs 380) (The Brazilian version of crispy chicken fried balls), which is another perfect monsoon snack. The Escondidinho (Rs 395) a special preparation of dried meat steak with mascaporne and parmesan cheese is a must-try if you enjoy a good piece of steak, but are looking for a delicious variation. For seafood lovers, we suggest you go with the Casquinha de Siri (Rs 395) crab shells stuffed with sauteed crab meat cooked with paprikas, tomatoes and cheese. Spiced crab meat sits beautifully in the shell egging you to take a bite and then have some more.

The mixed grill (Rs 660) is an assortment of grilled meats including tenderloin, pork sausages and veal, it’s a meat-lovers dream come true that you get to pair with some interesting dips and bites including (roasted cassava, mushrooms and our favourite thyme butter). From the drinks menu, there’s the chilled glass of Caipirinha (Rs 495 for a glass) (Brazil’s national cocktail) or the Brazilian Slam (`500 a glass) coconut infused cachaca with fresh coconut water, slime and sugar that promises and delivers a refreshing kick. Finish your meal with Quindim (Rs 295), a Brazilian baked custard with fresh coconut. It’s not your regular custard and the coconut perfectly complements this baked treat! However, if you are not a big fan of coconut, there’s always Doce de Leite Churros (Rs 295), served with caramelised condensed milk
