Fashion designer Troy Costa has much reason to celebrate, having won the award for Best Debut Designer at the men’s fashion week in Delhi and debuting in India with his women’s wear line at the forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week. The designer, who has earlier showcased his women’s wear line at the Dubai fashion week, expresses his excitement on  the upcoming show.

“I’m showcasing my Helen of Troy collection for which my philosophy is ‘women helped to create the world’, so I design clothes that reflect their strength and energy while at the same time reflect their individuality. At LFW’s winter festive this season, it’s the first time I am showcasing my women’s wear collection in India so I’m looking forward to it.”

Talking about his Delhi men’s fashion week experience, he says, “I guess I have been able to bridge the Mumbai-Delhi designers division that was there and I’ve mended fences.”

On his collection that was called ‘Ku de ta’ (a popular pub in Bali) and also means to replace, he says, “I wanted to change the look for resort weddings, so I created tuxedos without bows, to be worn with braided greek gladiators for a resort feel,” he adds.

Costa presents 5 trends to watch for this season:
1    Eyewear: Wayfarers will make it big.
2    Footwear: Loafers, braided slippers and gladiators.
3    Wafer thin jackets: Super light in shades of off-whites, beiges, grey.
4  Stripped jeans: Denims with stripes.
5 Kaftan shirts: These cool shirts are as long regular ones.
