Son set: Congress asks for Kalicharan Saraf’s resignation

Congress staged a protest against health minister Kalicharan Saraf for his son’s alleged involvement in extorting money for giving affiliation to nursing colleges. The party leaders burnt Saraf’s effigy, demanded his resignation and announced to take up the issue of ‘corruption’ to the office of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The son of the health minister was reportedly negotiating lakhs of rupees for giving affiliation to nursing colleges. The owners of the college accepted that negotiations were done with the family member of the minister. The government has taken no cognizance till date and neither sleuths of ACB have swung into action. The government should sack the minister immediately,” said Archana Sharma, chairperson of Congress media cell, who led a crowd which burnt an effigy of the minister. A letter has been written to the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court to take cognizance of the matter and PMO also has been intimated about the same, said Sharma.

The party spokesperson and Jaipur Congress committee president Pratap Singh Khachariyawas has also raised the demand of removing Saraf and asked the CM Vasundhara Raje to make a statement on it. “We will also register a case over the corruption in the office of Lokayukta,” said Khachariyawas. It is worth mentioning that a media report published recently exposed the alleged racket of extortion run by the minister’s son. This has given fresh ammunition to Congress leaders to target the government.

Meanwhile, Khachariyawas also raised the demand to arrest parliamentary secretary Bhairam Seol who allegedly provoked a particular community for violence in Jodhpur’s Samrau village. The violence erupted in the village following the murder.
