Jaipur: In semi-finals, Congress heavyweights enter fray

It is being considered as the semi-finals before the big assembly election battle in the desert state this year. With barely four days to go for the bypolls in the state, the young state Congress president along with senior leaders is driving the party’s campaign for the bypoll.  Former CM Ashok Gehlot and RPCC chief Sachin Pilot on Wednesday did massive campaigning in Ajmer and both leaders shared stage altogether too.

Pilot toured Kishangarh, Nasirabad and Dudu and held rallies in support of party candidate Raghu Sharma. Pilot made scathing attacks on BJP government for its alleged failures in past four years of its rule. “People gave BJP a thumb majority in assembly election in Rajasthan. Though, the government proved a complete failure in fulfilling promises it made at the time of assembly election. Also, the government took anti-people decision which exploited commoners,” said Pilot.

The RPCC chief also accused BJP government for dividing societies to reap political gains. “Dumping the issue of development the BJP leaders are playing caste politics. Earlier, their divided the society in the name of religion and now they are creating rifts between castes,” said Pilot. His taking on BJP for failures in past four years seem to a reply to Raje’s jibe which she took on Thursday accusing Congress detailing Rajasthan off the track of development.  

On the other hand, Gehlot did extensive rallies in the support of Sharma. In Nasirabad he shared the stage with Pilot and addressed a rally. In his speech, Gehlot expressed confidence of party winning all three seats- Ajmer, Alwar, and Mandalgarh. “ Now the time has arrived for people to expose BJP for deception and misrule meted out to them in past four years,” said Gehlot speaking in the rally.
