Commuters suffer as Gurjars squat on roads, tracks in Rajasthan

The passengers continued to suffer because of the sit-in of the Gurjars on the railway tracks at Malarna Dungar.

The agitating Gurjar community celebrated the Dev Narayan Jayanti on railway tracks as its protest entered the fifth day on Tuesday. The community lead by Col Kirori Singh Bainsla offered flowers and lighted the lamp on the portrait of Dev Narayan ji who is a revered as a local deity of the community. At many other places too,  Gurjars celebrated his birth anniversary.

However, the passengers continued to suffer because of the sit-in of the Gurjars on the railway tracks at Malarna Dungar.

Western Central railways said that 15 trains whose commencement of journey was on Tuesday and Wednesday have been cancelled while 9 trains are being operated on a diverted route and six trains have been partially cancelled.

NWR meanwhile said that  three trains have been cancelled. They are train number 12918 between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Ahmedabad whose journey was to commence on Tuesday, 12963 train between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Udaipur city which was to commence journey on Wednesday and Udaipur city to Hazrat Nizamuddin train number 12964 whose journey was to commence on Tuesday.

Three trains have also been diverted, said the NWR officials. NWR has also opened a booth to assist and provide information on train cancellation and route change. 

The number of helpline is 2201403. NWR and other divisions of railways have been issuing regular updates about the trains which are either cancelled or diverted.

The situation of buses movement specially to Uttar Pradesh continued to be paralyzed on Tuesday. 

Sources informed that bus connectivity to Uttar Pradesh has been reduced by about 80% with most of the routes still occupied by agitators on various highways. 

While this is not only route passengers take for UP or other places in Rajasthan, it’s also hurting the passengers who wanted to go to Kumbh in Prayagraj. Large number of passengers booked the tickets and paid the fare of buses in advance and now are not able to go.

Meanwhile University of Rajasthan has also cancelled the UG Arts (private) examinations which were scheduled on February 13, 14, 15 and 16. In a release issued by examination controller, it was said that new dates will be announced on a later date.
