Youth jumps to burning pyre in Uttar Pradesh, dies

In a bizzare incident, a youth jumped to a burning pyre at Manikarnika ghat in Varanasi and died, police said.

While the final rites of a person hailing from Kaimur in Bihar was in progress at the Manikarnika burning ground, a youth sneaked out of the crowd and jumped to the burning pyre, they said.

The badly burnt youth was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead, the police said adding the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained.

The youth is said to be mentally unstable, the police said.
