West Bengal: Expelled TMC MP Anupam Hazra, Congress-CPM MLAs join BJP

Trinamool Congress MP Anupam Hazra, who was expelled after allegations of anti-party activities, joined BJP on Tuesday. Congress MLA Dulal Chandra Bar and CPM MLA Khagen Murmu also joined BJP.

Anupam Hazra was welcomed to the BJP by senior party leader Mukul Roy and  BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya at the party headquarters in New Delhi. Roy himself was a former TMC leader himself.

Hazra was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 from the Bolpur constituency. However, before being expelled from the party, Hazra had been a vocal critic of TMC leadership and had even shared his views on social media. 

Hazra is the latest former TMC leader to join BJP. Roy has claimed many more are set to cross over in the days to come.
