Solapur woman detained for ‘poisoning’ kids

The police suspect that the kids were murdered around a week ago and that then buried by the woman with the help of her boyfriend.

In a shocking incident, a woman from Solapur’s Malshiras village was detained by the cops for allegedly poisoning her two children to death, as she considered them to be a hurdle in her relationship with her paramour, police said.

The decomposed bodies of the toddlers — one aged two and the other a four-month-old — were exhumed by cops after found buried in the village on Saturday afternoon. According to the police, the woman’s husband had left her several months ago and she was having an affair with another man from the village. The police suspect that considering that the kids may be a hurdles in her relationship, the mother poisoned them.

The police suspect that the kids were murdered around a week ago and that then buried by the woman with the help of her boyfriend. The incident came to light when a villager noticed that her sons were missing for the past several days.

“We had received information that two kids are missing from the village and that her mother killed them. We inquired in the village and dug up a government plot adjoining to the village where we found the bodies of the kids in decomposed state. The bodies have been sent for  postmortem and we have detained their mother for questioning. We suspect that the woman’s boyfriend might be involved in the murder and are trying to locate him too,” said a police officer from Malshiras Police Station.

“We have recovered two bodies and have sent them to Solapur government hospital for postmortem. A case will be registered on Sunday morning,” Viresh Prabhu, Superintendent of Solapur police told DNA.
