The Karaikal district administration on Friday ordered an inquiry into the allegations of sexual harassment, levelled against a top official of the Municipal office.
The action comes following a complaint lodged by a female staff of the Karaikal Municipality on Thursday, alleging that Municipal Commissioner Gandhirajan had tried to misbehave with her. Members of the government employees association also met the Collector and sought action against the civic official.
Ordering an inquiry into the charges, District Collector P Parthiban says, a four-member committee has been formed to carry out a detailed probe into the allegations against the Municipal Commissioner.
"Suitable action will be taken based on the findings of the committee," he said.
