After the Karnataka government implemented Unlock 3.0 Monday (July 5), the state reported 3,104 new COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths
As the people of Karnataka enjoy Unlock 3.0, the state revenue minister R Ashoka has warned people of imposing another lockdown if covid-appropriate behaviour is not followed in the state. He also stressed that even though the cases have come down one should not be ignorant about it.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, R Ashoka said that people need to maintain distance and wear masks at all times otherwise the lockdown is inevitable. “New Covid cases may be coming down but that shouldn’t lead to ignorance. People should wear masks, maintain social distance and get the vaccine. Or else, a lockdown will be inevitable in Karnataka,” the minister said.
This comes after the Karnataka government had relaxed restrictions under Unlock 3.0 from Monday (July 5) onwards with the reopening of shops, restaurants, malls, private offices and religious places.
Here are some of the restrictions/ relaxations imposed by the Karnataka government:
- All public transport- buses and metro are operating up to their seating capacity from last Monday.
- Worship places are only open for darshan with Covid-19 precautionary measures.
- Offices and business establishments are have been allowed to function at full capacity.
- Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will operate between 5 AM and 9 PM with all precautionary measures, and 4,500 buses will operate in the city and suburban areas.
- The night curfew will continue between 9 PM and 5 AM, though the weekend curfew has been lifted.
- The theatres, cinema halls and pubs will remain closed, while swimming pools, sports complexes and stadia are permitted for competitive training and practice purposes by strictly adhering to COVID appropriate behaviour.
After Unlock 3.0, Karnataka reported 3,104 new COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths, taking the total number of infections to 28.59 lakh and the toll to 35,526 on Tuesday (July 6).
