India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in many areas of the country. IMD predicts that Sikkim will have isolated heavy rainfall over the following two to three days following severe rains in northeast India. The weather department has also predicted heavy rains for the entire weekend throughout Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bihar.
The number of rain-related disasters such as landslides, cloudbursts, flash floods, and other weather-related calamities, have caused substantial property damage and fatalities in Himachal Pradesh. Rain-related incidents have claimed at least 367 lives since the start of the monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh, according to the State Disaster Management Authority.
In Sikkim, a fatal landslide on Friday's heavy rains claimed the life of one person. Several roads, homes, crops, and water and electricity supplies were devastated by landslides in Soreng, Namchi district, according to officials, who claim that the heavy rain also had an impact on day-to-day living there.
According to the weather service, the North East region will occasionally experience substantial rainfall activity over the following four days. Additionally, Assam and Meghalaya may have a few isolated, very strong downpours today and tomorrow. The weather agency has also forecast that the rest of the country would likely experience modest rainfall activity throughout the course of the upcoming week.
