Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya through Monday, as per India Meteorological Department (IMD). An advisory was issued on Sunday. This appears to be linked to the interaction between a cyclonic circulation over west Assam at lower tropospheric levels and the western part of the peak of the monsoon season aligning with the Himalayan foothills.

Over the next five days, it is anticipated that East and Northeast India will experience light to moderate widespread downpours, thunderstorms, and lightning.

Assam and Meghalaya should anticipate similar circumstances today and Monday, including really heavy precipitation tonight, while Arunachal Pradesh is likely to have isolated, very heavy rainfall overnight. Additionally, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to have light to moderate thunderstorms and drizzle tonight, along with the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Although the IMD has issued a warning, it is possible that the rainfall over the next five days won't be enough to significantly improve the weak monsoon weather in the eastern and northeastern regions. Tonight, northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to have light to moderate scattered precipitation across southern India.

The rest of the nation should experience generally moderate rainfall activity during the next five days. The IMD has also predicted hot and humid weather for the next three days for Kerala and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.
