Archaeologists have excavated artefacts that they claim predate the Harappan Civilization. The site where these objects were found is located in Kunal, a village in the Fatehabad district of Haryana. Should their claim turn out to be true, it will provide evidence of the existence of a civilization that could be the oldest civilization in the world.

US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Indian Space research Organization (ISRO) will be coming together to vindicate these claims, by further excavating the site.

NASA and ISRO will be starting their research on the excavated artefacts in October 2017 said, Ram Bilas Sharma, Minister of Haryana Archaeology and Museums.

What was found?
  • Ornaments and pots comprise of the artefacts discovered apart from spherical structures.

Sharma also stated that these finds are estimated to be 6,000 years old, that is even older than the Harappan Civilization, which is considered to be 3,500 years old and the most ancient civilization till date.

Establishing international-level museums at Kunal and Rakhigarhi village is on the cards for the Haryana Government.
