Former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) late on Sunday night. While the veteran leader has been under house arrest since August 5, the decision to detain him under PSA was taken on Sunday night.
Herein, the government can detain a person for up to 2 years without a trial. However, there will be no bar on him meeting relatives and friends at his Srinagar residence, which has been converted into a subsidiary jail.
