The Indian Army can launch more surgical strikes at Pakistan if it wants to send a strong message, said Lt Gen (retd) DS Hooda, who was at the helm of affairs in 2016, when the cross-LoC assault was launched destroying terror camps.

He said the decision to hit terror camps along the Line of Control was taken by the Centre and the army had agreed to go ahead with it.

"The final decision came from political leadership, but the military was in agreement that we needed to do something. If we want to send another strong response to Pakistan in the future we can definitely do it again," said General Hooda.

The footage of the September 29 surgical strike was aired on TV channels for public viewership recently. Drones were used to make the video and show how troops from the special forces crossed the LoC to carry out the attack.

Hooda was heading the Udhampur-based Northern Command when the strike took place. He said the operation was being closely monitored from a control room. The operation was around six hours-long, he said while giving out details of the attack.

The Indian Army destroyed terror camps and also inflicted damage on Pakistani Army as the terror camps were situated near their posts.
