In a funny incident from Gangeshwari village, in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district, a pitcher filled with silver coins was unearthed during the plowing of a farmland by a tractor.

As the story of unearthing of the pitcher started doing the rounds, villagers came and looted all the silver coins. Neither the tractor driver, nor the owner of the land got to keep even a single coin.

The farmland belongs to a man named Shaukat Ali. The plowing of the land was taking place in his field when the tractor hitted upon a metal pitcher and all the coins from it scattered around the place.

From silver coins to jewellery, the villagers looted whatever they could lay their hands upon.

Situated on Pathra marg, Shaukat Ali inherited this farmland from his ancestors. The incident took place this Saturday when tractor owner Nazim was ploughing the field with his tractor.

Before Nazim could understand what he had unearthed, people working on the field and nearby areas ran to loot the jewellery and coins that spill from the pitcher. The owner too could not get a hand at it as he was not present there.

On getting the information police came to the spot but could not find anything.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Ajay Pratap Singh told reporters that on getting information regarding the unearthing of the silver coins, policemen were sent to the spot.

Police said that it has recovered all the silver coins and has taken them into their custody. Now it will be presented before the Amroha Collector. After that it will be deposited in the state treasury.

A similar incident has been reported from Jerusalem's Old City. Archaeologists discovered 450 gold coins, all in good condition, while digging near the Western Wall in the old city of Jerusalem.

The precious 1,000-year-old coins reflect the political and historical shift of power between the two Muslim dynasties that ruled the city at the time.

The gold coins were discovered in August 18, but the find was only publicized on Monday.
