At least 60 people were killed on Friday evening after a crowd of Dussehra revellers that had spilled onto railway tracks while watching burning of Ravana effigy was run over by a train in Amritsar.
The train was coming from Jalandhar to Amritsar.
At least 300 people were reportedly at the spot watching 'Ravan dahan'
The toll is likely to rise.
"Rushing to Amritsar to personally supervise relief and rescue in tragic rail accident on Dussehra in Amritsar. My govt will give Rs 5 lakh to kin of each deceased & free treatment to injured in govt and private hospitals. District authorities have been mobilised on war footing," Amarinder tweeted.
The incident was captured in a mobile phone and the video has gone viral.

Punjab Chief Minister has also directed Home Secretary, Health Secretary and ADGP Law and Order to immediately rush to Amritsar.
