Accusing the police of 'disrespecting him' while issuing a traffic violation challan, senior BJP leader Anil Singh sat on a dharna and wept copiously in the presence of the SP.

The incident took place when Singh was stopped by the police at a check post while returning to his residence. Asked to show his vehicle documents, Singh attempted to make an excuse of forgetting them, but the police slapped him with a challan for driving without documents. They even threatened to seize his vehicle.

As a result, Singh sat on a dharna in the middle of the road and was soon joined by a group of party workers. When Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Pandey reached the spot, Singh grabbed his feet and began sobbing. "They robbed me off my respect," said Singh, adding, "I am a poor man. You can do anything, you can get me killed." Despite SP Pandey's attempts to console him, Singh was adamant that the police disrespected him. "After cooperating with them and accepting the challan, they still disrespected me. Eventually, Pandey managed to calm Singh.

Meanwhile, the police said that they were just doing their job. "We slapped Singh with a challan because he was driving without proper documents."
