Petitions filed against Home Minister P Chidambaram and Law Minister Salman Khurshid for their alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam on Thursday got listed for hearing in the Supreme Court after it took exception against its own registry for not putting the case for hearing.

A bench of justices GS Singhvi and SJ Mukhopadhaya said that matter would be taken up after Holi vacation.

The NGO, which filed the petition, complained that cases are not put on list for hearing by the Supreme Court registry and wanted the bench to intervene.

The bench then said it would talk to the concerned officials during the lunch time and asked the petitioner to come at 2pm.

When the court reassembled, the petitioner was informed that matter would be taken up for hearing after vacation.

The application, filed by an NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation, has submitted that a "thorough investigation" is required to probe the role of Chidambaram who was the Finance Minister when spectrum was allocated to telecom companies during the tenure of former Telecom Minister A Raja.

The NGO, on whose plea the apex court is monitoring the probe in the scam, contended that there is evidence showing that Chidambaram was "micromanaging everything and was keeping a close eye on all developments" on the spectrum allocation.

"Direct the CBI to conduct a thorough investigation /further investigation into the role of the Finance Ministry under the then Finance Minister in the 2G spectrum scam as is highlighted in this application, under the close supervision of this Court assisted by the Central Vigilance Commissioner and the senior Vigilance Commissioners," the application said.

In another petition, the NGO has submitted that there was "an unimpeachable chain of events that establish the interference of powerful ministers, especially Khurshid, within the government who are still battling for the companies that are the beneficiaries of the 2G scam."
