Natalie Portman aka Jane Foster recently opened up about her starring in the fourth solo Thor movie.

Speaking to Fatherly, Portman recently revealed that she will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. Portman has been part of  'Thor' (2011), 'Thor: The Dark World' (2013), and 'Avengers: Endgame' (2019) as Jane Foster, the nurse-turned-warrior, who wields the Asgardian God of Thunder’s weapon, Mjolnir.

As per reports, Portman had earlier refused to star in any Marvel film since she was unhappy with her role and the importance given to it. However, the actress herself recently revealed that she will be returning to the MCU after being offered a meatier role in the upcoming Thor film.

Speaking to Fatherly, Portman said, "I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is. I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of the Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side."

'Thor: Love and Thunder' is directed by Taika Waititi, who also helmed 2017's 'Thor: Ragnarok'.

Jane Foster first appeared in American comic series 'Journey into Mystery'. And according to the pages of the comics, Jane Foster becomes Thor while in the midst of receiving treatment for breast cancer. However, she later has to sacrifice herself and the mantle reverts to the original Thor.

It seems like Portman in her interview confirmed all the rumours that stated the new film will be taking inspiration for Jane's character from the comic book arc and will turn into a superhero. Why else would Portman be training to get muscles?

Thor: Ragnarok's sequel will star Chris Hemsworth in the lead and Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Taikia Waititi with Christian Bale as the movie's mysterious villain.

Titled Thor: Love and Thunder, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on February 11, 2022.
