Sonakshi Sinha and Sidharth Malhotra have been cast for the Ittefaq remake. The film is an official remake of the 1969 Hindi murder mystery starring Rajesh Khanna and Nanda. However, they won’t be playing lovers in the film.

The remake is is very different and they are just adapting the basic premise. Since audiences are aware about the suspense of Ittefaq, there has to be a twist in the film. Sonakshi confirms, “The film’s story has been changed and modified. It’s about three characters and each one has a back story and a reason to be the murderer. It needs to be seen who actually does it.”

Murder mysteries are almost a dead genre in Hindi cinema and this film is looking to change that. They start shooting from January 2017 and Sidharth lets the cat out of the bag, “I am very excited to work with Sonakshi. But we aren’t paired opposite each other in the film. She’s not my romantic interest. There will be another girl in the film as well,” he revealed.
