While it’s a norm to see people and institutions acknowledged in the credits for films and plays, it’s unusual to see pets being thanked.

Theatre actor Shweta Rohira walks a different path. In the credits of the play, That’s My Girl, where she essays the lead role with Ananth Mahadevan (who portrays her dad), Shweta’s pet dogs — Dollar, Baller and Bagheera — have been duly acknowledged.

We hear it was playwright-director Bharat Dabholkar who came up with the suggestion. As a source reveals, “People often thank those who have helped them in a film or when they win an award. Bharat told Shweta that Dollar, Baller and Bagheera were her constant companions and always kept her in a happy state of mind, so, they should be given credit at the end of the play.” We love the idea and wish more actors would start doing this from now on.
