Vijay Sethupathi is currently riding high on success with his latest release Jawan. The actor was supposed to do Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic titled 800, however, he opted out of it. Now, the cricketer has revealed the reason behind the actor’s exit.

In a recent conversation with Zoom, Muttiah Muralitharan revealed what happened behind the scenes and said, “"During my time at IPL, my director mentioned that Vijay Sethupathi was staying in the same hotel for a shoot. He offered to arrange a meeting, and although initially unsure, Vijay, being a fan of mine as a cricketer, agreed to meet. He allotted two hours five days
later, post 8 p.m., for a narration of the script. After hearing it, he expressed genuine enthusiasm for the film, stating that he wouldn't pass up such a unique opportunity and was eager to be part of the project. Subsequently, we sealed the deal with him, and the production house also came on board."

The cricketer further added that post outrage, some politicians said that Vijay shouldn’t play him because of some misquote, that the cricketer made and said, “He was under tremendous pressure, and they were threatening Vijay's family also."

He concluded, “This movie is a sports movie, and it's not related to anything political or anything else, but it's just a true story of a man." But, because of him and his film, the cricketer didn't want to sabotage Vijay Sethupathi’s career. 800, is a film about Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan and after Vijay Sethupathi opted out of the movie, now, the movie is being led by Madhurr Mittal of Slumdog Millionaire fame.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi who was recently seen essaying the role of a villain in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, will be next seen in Sriram Raghavan's movie Merry Christmas. The actor will be seen sharing the screen with Katrina Kaif in the movie which is scheduled to hit the theatres on December 15.
