Many Indians aim to pass the UPSC exam and join the IAS, yet the exam is difficult to pass since it is one of India's most difficult exams. Being a doctor is the ultimate objective for many medical students, but Renu Raj had other aspirations. Renu Raj studied for a few months while also practicing as a surgeon, took the UPSC exam, and aced it on her first try.

    Who is Renu Raj?

Renu Raj quit her medical practice in order to sit for the UPSC test. Renu Raj is renowned in Munnar for taking firm action against illegal construction efforts and land encroachments. Renu Raj attended Kottayam, Kerala's St. Teresa's Higher Secondary School. She, then, went to Government Medical College in Kottayam, where she pursued her interest in medicine.

Alongside her medical career, she began studying for the UPSC Exam in 2013. Dr. Renu Raj took the Civil Services Exam in 2014, which was administered by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). She achieved the second place on her first try.

In many interviews, Renu Raj has stated her ambition to have an impact on the public. She once claimed that the choice to leave the medical field was because of the difference between assisting thousands of citizens as an IAS and just a few hundred people as a doctor.

She believed that if she had been a doctor, she might have impacted 50 or 100 patients, but as a government officer, she might have helped thousands of people with just one decision. She then made the decision to take the UPSC exam, according to Renu Raj.

Following her marriage to Sriram Venkataraman, another UPSC topper, Renu Raj is now the district collector of Alappuzha in the state of Kerala. Dr. Renu Raj provided insightful advice for prospective candidates after experiencing success.
