UPSC is one of the toughest exams to crack to become an Indian IAS officer. To pass the civil service exam, a person studies religiously for several hours. Every year, thousands of candidates seek to take the exam to become IAS, IFS, IPS, and IRS.

Only a few number of them succeed in the most competitive exam. Today we will talk about an IPS officer who left a high-paying job at NASA and cracked UPSC in 5th attempt.

IPS officer Anukriti Sharma hails from the Rajasthani city of Ajmer. Her father worked in the 20-point department, while her mother was a teacher. Anukriti completed her schooling at the Indo Bharat International School in Jaipur. After that, she travelled to Kolkata's Indian Institute of Science Education and Research to pursue a BSMS.

Anukriti met Banaras native Vaibhav Mishra while she was a student. Gradually their friendship grew strong and turned into love. Both were chosen for Ph.D. programs at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 2012. As Vaibhav declared his desire for Anukriti to accompany him to America. His family advised them to get married first. Consequently, they got married in 2013.

According to her, both of them were earning more than Rs 2 lakh per month, Jagran reported. She did, however, return back to India. Anukriti earned 23rd place in the 2014 National Eligibility Test (NET) Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) test, while her spouse Vaibhav Mishra earned the top spot.

After that, Anukriti and her husband Vaibhav began their preparation for the civil service while residing in Banaras. While preparing for the UPSC, Anukriti and her husband helped one another. Sharma's determination and strong work ethic helped her achieve the All India 355th rank on her third attempt, and as a result, she was chosen for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).

In another attempt, she secured All India 138th rank and became an IPS officer. In addition to her parents, Anukriti Sharma credits her husband, who helped her in preparing UPSC test. IPS Sharma now serves as Assistant Superintendent of Police for Bulandshahr. Vaibhav, Anukriti's partner, works as a teacher at a Delhi coaching facility.
